Carl August, son of Henry Polzien and his wife Bertha Schmidt, was born October 26, 1899 about three miles southwest of Wall Lake where he lived with his parents until young manhood. Carl August, son of Henry Polzien and his wife Bertha Schmidt, was born October 26, 1899 about three miles southwest of Wall Lake where he lived with his parents until young manhood. He was baptized in the Peace Lutheran Church where he became a member. He was united in marriage to Matilda Karstens Sept. 7, 1927. Four children were born to this union, all of who survive. They are LaVern of Sac City, Marvin of Alta, Phyllis of Houston, Texas and Iris (Mrs. Paul Meyer) of Sac City. Immediately after their marriage the young couple farmed west of Wall Lake for five years. They then farmed east of Wall Lake and north of Wall Lake for about 12 years before moving to the family home of Mrs. Polzien about seven miles southeast of Wall Lake where they were living at the time of his death. Marriage 1 Mathilda --- b: 1906 in Iowa Married: 1927 in Sac county, Iowa Mr. Polzien had not been in the best of health in recent years but his death came unexpectedly as the result of a heart attack Wednesday morning last week. Surviving are his wife, the four children and the following brothers and sisters: Henry of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Walter and Martin of Wall Lake; Alma, (Mrs. Paul Guemmer of Sioux Falls, S. Dak.) and Edna (Mrs. Earl Bundt) of Breda. He also leaves five grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Emma, Anna and Clara (Mrs. Otto Dierenfeld); and two brothers who died in infancy. Mr. Polzien was an active member of Peace Lutheran congregation and two years ago was elected to serve as an Elder in the congregation. --------------------------------------------------------------- Music was provided by Miss Etta Schmidt, Mrs. Melvin Bahr, Jack Stickrod and Leland Weitzel, accompanied by Roland Erickson. Mrs. Lawrence Oxendale and Mrs. John Schroeder were in charge of the flowers. Ferd Obman, Don Becker, LeRoy Dreesen, Claus Huisenga, John Aschbrenner and William Huisenga were casket bearers. Burial was in the Wall Lake cemetery under the direction of Farber and Otteman Funeral Home.
