Their family lived in Melbourne for a short time before moving to Marshalltown where he was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School system. Following high school, Carl served his country as a member of the United States Army. He actively served his country during the Vietnam War serving two tours of duty. Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Carl Griggs was born on Tuesday; January 22, 1946, in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iow. He was the son of: Maurice and Clarice (Ingledue) Griggs. Their family lived in Melbourne for a short time before moving to Marshalltown where he was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School system. Following high school, Carl served his country as a member of the United States Army. He actively served his country during the Vietnam War serving two tours of duty. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Army, Carl returned home to Marshalltown. On September 28, 1968, Carl was united in marriage to Joan Mahoney. To this union four children were born: Brian, Kevin, Curt and Amber. During the time his family lived in Albion he was employed at the elevator and was also the Mayor of Albion for six years. Carl also worked as a foreman in Gibson City, Illinois for a short time before his family returned to Marshalltown. Carl was a driver for Ruan Transportation for over 15 years and had driven over three million miles. He had also driven for McGregor's and VanWyck and had been employed with the Central Iowa Machine Shop, Don Anderson Heating & Cooling and Krantman's Inc. Carl enjoyed cars and loved to work on and restore street rods. During his younger years Carl also enjoyed stock car racing. He also especially enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino.
