Description	:	Carl Ed Ungefug, 83, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Jan. 6, 2014. Ed was born at home on the family farm in Belfry on Dec. 30, 1930. Father, John Ungefug, and mother, Sophie Wagner Ungefug, raised Ed in Belfry, where he graduated from high school and joined the Navy in 1949. When he returned home, he worked for Beuing Electric in Red Lodge and Willis Sales in Billings. Ed met Shirley, and they were married on Oct. 17, 1952, in Red Lodge. Ed was born at home on the family farm in Belfry on Dec. 30, 1930. Father, John Ungefug, and mother, Sophie Wagner Ungefug, raised Ed in Belfry, where he graduated from high school and joined the Navy in 1949. When he returned home, he worked for Beuing Electric in Red Lodge and Willis Sales in Billings. Ed met Shirley, and they were married on Oct. 17, 1952, in Red Lodge. Then, Ed went to work for the telephone company, which went through many name changes throughout his 38-year career. He retired with U.S. West in 1990. Ed was in many organizations: the Elks Beartooth Lodge (Red Lodge), the Masons Pryor MTN Lodge, the Telephone Pioneers and was a 60-year member of the American Legion Post 84, Belfry. Dad's favorite things were camping, fishing, hunting and traveling, always with family and friends. He loved a good fish story and a good laugh. His smile always lit up the room. In retirement, Ed and his wife of 60 years, Shirley, traveled south with their fifth wheel in the winter, and camped with the Telephone Pioneers on summer outings. Always up for an adventure, cruises were one of his favorites. He wanted to take one more, so, in September, Ed and Shirley went with their daughter and son-in-law to New York City for three days, then hopped on a ship to cruise the Eastern Coast of New England and Canada. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophie Ungefug, and brother Bill Ungefug. He is survived by the love of his life, Shirley; daughter Sherry (Ray J.) Stroh; son Ray (Laura) Ungefug; grandchildren Russ (Kristen) Clark and Levi (Vanessa) Clark and Emily Ungefug; great-grandchildren Dora Ann (Levi), Jacquelynn and Ian (Russ); and a very special nephew, Kenny (Kim) Cox of Alaska; brother Harry Ungefug; sister Virginia Briscoe; and many close friends and relatives. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at King of Glory Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date. Michelotti-Sawyers is assisting with arrangements and remembrances may be shared at www.michelottisawyers.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice, American Heart Association, or the charity of one's choice.
