He served with the U.S. Army 1945-47. He lived in Oakland until moving to Winslow, Nebraska in 1953. He was owner-operator of Champlin Gas Station in Winslow 1952-87 and was a school bus driver for Logan View Junior-Senior High School. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper, NE, past member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper, chairman of Winslow Village Board, member of the Hooper Lions Club, Masonic Lodge 72 AF & AM of Hooper, Eastern Star Friendship Chapter of Hooper, American Legion Post 18 of Hooper and Winslow-Hooper Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 10535. He married Wilma Christensen Jan. 30, 1949 in Telbasta, Nebraska. They were blessed with a son. Sadly, she died March 22, 1987. He married Phyllis Krohn June 6, 1991 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Carl "Ed" Samuelson, 73, of Winslow, Nebraska, died Tuesday, February 9, 1993 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont, Nebraska. Left to honor his memory are his wife; son, Karl, of Colorado Springs, CO; three step-sons: the Rev. Michael Skinner of Houston, TX, the Rev. Lew Kaye Skinner of Lincoln, NE; and James Krohn of Arnold, NE; two stepdaughters: Jennifer Ahlemeyer of Lincoln, NE; and Rebecca Krohn of Wayne, NJ; three brothers, Myron and Raymond, both of Pueblo, CO, and Samuel of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Rowena Johnson of Boulder, CO; two grandsons and five step-grandsons. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper, NE. The Rev. Hiram Lilley will officiate. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Thursday at Warne-Johnson Funeral Home in Hooper. A Masonic service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The body will be cremated after the funeral and the ashes buried at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont at a later date.
