Description	:	MCARTHUR--A McArthur man injured in a traffic accident July 10 died Friday at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Carl E. Parker, 83, McArthur, was injured near 114 W. Main St. when he was struck by a car driven by his wife, Louise Parker of McArthur, according to McArthur police. Parker was taken to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, then transferred to Grant. Parker, 83, of McArthur, a retired Latin teacher, died Friday, July 26, 1996, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Born March 9, 1913, in Alexander Twp., Athens County, he was the son of the late William Sherman and Mary McVay Parker. Mr. Parker had taught for 27 years in Pickaway, Ross, and Vinton Counties. His Latin curriculum program consistently listed as one of the top 10 programs of Ohio. He was a member of the McArthur Freewill Baptist Church. He graduated with honors from Ohio University in 1933. He was a Gideon Charter member and served as chaplain of the Vinton County Camp. He was a former TV and radio repairman. He was a member of the Signal Corps, part of the Fifth Corps Area of the United States during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Louise Canter Parker; a son, Douglas Parker of Gastonia, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Parker of Liberty, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Joyce) Souder of Columbus, and Barbara Waybright of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Collins and Lulu Oxley. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McArthur Freewill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jerry Griffith Sr. and Jerry Griffith Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur, and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Parker, new mayor of Albany, his friends believe. He is 24 years old. He took office Monday afternoon, after he had been inaugurated at the meeting of the city council, and thinks that his new job will be all right if the council will always cooperate fully with him, but, "It will be just a pain in the neck if they don't," he says. Parker is a graduate of Ohio University with the class of 1933, having taken a four-year teacher's training course. While in college he made an almost straight "A" record scholastically. He was graduated from the Albany High School. Born and reared on a farm two miles north of Hebbardsville, in Alexander Township, the new mayor has spent most of his life in and around Albany. He taught one team in the Albany schools, and one in the schools at Mineral. For the last two years he has been engaged in the radio business at Albany.
