Description	:	Carl Ewing, 84 of Montezuma passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Carl Edwin Ewing, son of Carl L. Ewing and Winifred I. Cox Ewing was born on May 31, 1929. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1947. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 serving in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1953. Read More	Carl Ewing, 84 of Montezuma passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Carl Edwin Ewing, son of Carl L. Ewing and Winifred I. Cox Ewing was born on May 31, 1929. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1947. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 serving in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1953. Carl married Pauline Virginia Mikles on November 23, 1957 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and then began farming north of Montezuma. They became the parents of three children, Mark, Sheryl and Michael. Carl became a custodian at the Montezuma Community School and also a custodian at the Montezuma Library retiring after 30 years. He also cleaned Dr. Caldwell's office and Brownell's. Carl enjoyed doing puzzles, mowing yards, his family dog and above all spending time with his family and friends. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 53 years, Pauline, his brother Gordon, his grandson Travis Schmidt and his best friend and classmate Dean Hall. Carl is survived by his sister Joy Reed, his children, Mark (Marla) Ewing of Montezuma, Sheryl (Rick) Snook of Camp Point, Illinois, and Michael (Ginny) Ewing of Ewart; his grandchildren, Kelly Ewing, Katy Ewing, Kerry (Mark) Spooner, Dusty (Mike McKee) Jackson, Randi (Brad) Sincox, April Link, Brandy (Ian) Meyer and Bryan (Andrea) Snook; his great grandchildren Travis Lewis, Shawn Jackson, Desirae Jackson, Sydney Thompson, Zack Jackson, Taya Sincox, Samantha Spooner, Jayden Meyer, Ryah Thompson, Kori Link, Jonathon Meyer, Alexander Snook and Patrick Spooner, special friends Carol Hall, George and Vera Peters, three nieces, two nephews and many friends.
