Minzel was born July 1, 1849 at Bredenfelde, Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany, and passed away April 13, 1924 at his home northwest of Pleasant Dale, Nebr. at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 12 days, the immediate cause of his death being heart failure. At the place of his birth he was also baptized and confirmed. At the age of 23 years he left the old country and came to Reedsville, Wis. December 14, 1875 he was united in holy matrimony with Augusta, nee Schultz, and in the spring of the following year this young couple... Read More	John C. F. At the place of his birth he was also baptized and confirmed. At the age of 23 years he left the old country and came to Reedsville, Wis. December 14, 1875 he was united in holy matrimony with Augusta, nee Schultz, and in the spring of the following year this young couple came to Seward county, Nebr. They soon joined Immanuel Lutheran Church and Mr. Minzel has proved himself a faithful member unto his end. Two daughters and four sons were born to this union, one son preceding his father in death at a youthful age. Last Friday Mr. Minzel had attended a Lenten service in our church. Saturday he was up and around assisting his sons in their spring work. Sunday morning he took sick, and a physician was called. At one o'clock while trying to sit up he fell down and life was gone. The mourners are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Ida Gausman, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Mrs. Alma Schaefer, Lodi, California; the three sons, Arthur, Harry and Ervin, Pleasant Dale, Nebr., two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Good Friday afternoon from the house and the church, and interment was made in the Stone church cemetery. Seward Journal, Seward, NE, Thurs, April 24, 1924
