He was born May 23, 1926, in Riverside, N.J., and attended Riverside schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunners mate aboard the USS Maddox DD731, in the Pacific Ocean. Vogelmann, 79, took the hand of the Lord and followed him home, June 20, 2005. He was born May 23, 1926, in Riverside, N.J., and attended Riverside schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunners mate aboard the USS Maddox DD731, in the Pacific Ocean. After his honorable discharge in 1947, he attended The University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and graduated as an electrician. He worked for 22 years at the trade in New Jersey. In 1970, him and his wife, and a close friend, purchased Sunset Harbor Camps on Moosehead Lake in Greenville. They operated these camps for 23 years, and in those years, made many friends, some of which they are still in contact with to this day. His favorite pastimes were gardening, hunting, fishing, doing electrical work, and painting with oils on canvas. He is predeceased by his father; mother; and sister. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Dorothy; a son, Carl Jr.; two daughters, Marlene Knipping and husband, Richard, of Winterport; and Janice Hanscome and husband, Daniel, of Searsport; three granddaughters, Stephanie McVeary, of Luray, Va., Sara Hanscome, of Old Town, and Heidi Hanscome, of Belfast; two grandsons, Dr. Richard Knipping, of Winthrop, and Joshua Knipping, of Bangor; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lindsey McVeary, of Luray, Va.; and many nieces and nephews in New Jersey. A wonderful and kind man, a loving husband, and devoted father. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. At his request, there will be no funeral services. A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1440 West Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL, 60607.
