Description	:	OBITUARY: CARL. H. HENSLEY Carl H. Hensley, the son of William and Minnie Dettman Hensley, died at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 88 years. He received his education in the Audubon county schools and first attended the Greeley Center Methodist church. He served in the U. S. Army during World War 1. Hensley, the son of William and Minnie Dettman Hensley, died at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 88 years. He received his education in the Audubon county schools and first attended the Greeley Center Methodist church. He served in the U. S. Army during World War 1. On March 3, 1919 he married Edith Hansen and they farmed in Greeley township. She died November 15, 1943. He remained on the farm with his daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Ronald St. John for 25 years until his marriage to Evelyn Hamlin Miller on December 23, 1969. They lived in Braddyville, Iowa until 1972 when they moved to Exira. After one month in the hospital he became a resident of the Exira Care Center two weeks before his death. He was a member of the Exira Christian church. He served in the Iowa Legislature in the 1957-58 and 1961-62 sessions, was very active in soil conservation and was an early AAA committeeman, was president of the REA Board for a number of years and was active in the Braddyville Lions Club. Preceding him in death in addition to his wife, Edith, were his parents; a twin sister, Winnie Bauder; sisters; Hazel Anciaux and Martha Bickett and half-brothers and sisters: Clyde and Ed Hensely; Ina, Mrs. Gus Wahlert; Mayme, Mrs. George Wahlert; and Verna, Mrs. Vernon Deets. Survivors include his wife, Evlyn Hensley of Exira; his children and their spouses: LeRoy W. and Phyllis Hensley of Modesto, ca. and Bernice and Ben Olsen of Hayward, ca.; his grandchildren: Sherrill Niehouse of Kansas City, Missouri, Beth Owens of Dillon, Co.; Scott Hensley of Lodi, ca.; Britt Hensley of Vacaville, ca.; and Brian Hensley of Hayward, ca.; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
