Behnken The funeral of Carl Henry Behnken of Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, was held at the Prairie Hill Lutheran church, in Castle Grove township, last Saturday afternoon. Short services wore held at 1 o'clock at the home of E. F. Elben, and final services were held at the Lutheran church at 1:30 o'clock. Both services were conducted by Rev. M. Scherf, the pastor of the Castle Grove Lutheran church. Burial was had at the cemetery adjoining the church. Mr. Belinken had been afflicted with heart trouble for more than a year. The day before his death, he complained of not feeling well, and the day of his death, while eating breakfast, he again sustained an attack of heart trouble. Upon arising from the table, he went out to the barn to look after the morning chores. His wife soon followed him to the barn, and found him lying on the hay in a semi-conscious condition. Medical assistance was Immediately called, but he passed away a short time thereafter. Mr. Behnken was a son of Harm and Lena Behnken. He was born in the town of Ordorf, in the province of Ostfrieslantl, Germany, December 18, 1872. In the year of 1886, he was confirmed as a member of the Lutheran church. He immigrated to the United States with his brothers in 1887, settling in Iowa. He was married to Miss Helena Fehners of Castle Grove township, October 13, 1904. There were five children born to this union, four sons, Harm, John, Benjamin, Gord and one daughter, Augusta. During the first year of their wedded life, Mr; and Mrs. Behnken lived in Scotch Grove township. Thereafter they removed to Saskatchewan, Canada, where they lived for six yours, returning to Iowa In 1911. They lived for ten years in the vicinity of Prairieburg, and thereafter, in 1921, removed to Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, where they had since made their home. In addition to his widow and children, Mr, Behnlen is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Harm Behnken of Scotch Grove, Gerd Bohnken of Onslow, and two brothers and two sisters, who are residents of Germany. Mrs. Behnken and her oldest son, Harm, and her baby, Augusta, were present at the funeral. Mrs. Behnken expects to return to lown to make her home, as soon as she can got rid of her property holdings in Wisconsin.
