The Rev. Michael Davis will officiate with burial in the Union Cemetery in Battle Creek. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 170 and VFW Post 7603. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Meadow Grove. --- Carl John "Jack" Daniel, the son of John Carl and Willa Alice (Wright) Daniel, was born June 20, 1918, at Meadow Grove. He graduated from the Meadow Grove High school in 1937. Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until 1945. After the service, he was fortunate to have had employment opportunities in such locations as Omaha, Kansas City, Chicago, and - his most favorite San Diego, Calif. He returned to the Meadow Grove area in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Posts in Kearney and Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Nina, and his two brothers, Wayne and Warren. He is survived by his two sisters, Gwen Sulley of Kansas City and Jean (Kurt) Sieck of Des Moines, as well as 12 nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many good friends. Jack was a warm, witty, friendly individual - a lover of a "good time" and will be sorely missed.
