Description	:	Carl L. Even, son of Frank and Susan (Kurtenocker) Even, was born June 18, 1925 in Humboldt, SD. He attended Humboldt Grade School. He later moved to Sioux Falls, SD and graduated from Cathedral High School. Carl enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1943. He served as a Corporal and was a Control Tower Operator. He was honorably discharged March of 1946 at Camp McCoy, WI. He then attended Augustana College for a couple of years. He then attended Augustana College for a couple of years. Carl was united in marriage with Bernadette Metzler at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls on May 29, 1948. The family made their home in Sioux Falls where he was employed with Sanders Plumbing and Heating for 10 years. Carl later became a Pneumatic Control Installer and worked for Honeywell for 15 years. He was an owner and operator of B & E Control Services for 10 years until his retirement. In retirement, he worked part time for Grider Robinson in Sioux Falls. Carl was an avid golfer and member of Central Valley Golf Course, Hartford, SD where he served on the board of directors and was actively involved in the construction of the additional nine holes. In 1993 the couple moved from Sioux Falls to Hartford and built their home on the golf course. One of Carl's fondest memories was when he accomplished his goal of shooting his age. He shot a round of 75 at the age of 77.
