Read More	Obituary -- CARL MOORE STRIPE Carl Moore Stripe, son of Millard F. Stripe and Mellie Frances Stripe, was born near Cambria, Iowa, September 1, 1891, and departed this life from the family home in Humeston, Iowa, May 15, 1944. Carl grew up and spent practically his entire life in northern Wayne County. At the age of fifteen he was converted and united with the Eden Baptist church and retained his membership there until his death. He was married to Odessa Ann Sheets, April 30, 1913 [in Cambria, Iowa]. Five sons and five daughters blessed this union. They are: Hildreth, Millard Jr., Carl Jr., Billy, Loren, Madonna, Carolyn, Mrs. George Lawrence, all of Humeston; Mrs. Dale Weidenhaft, of Weldon, Iowa; and Max, now serving in the U.S. Coast Guard at Accomac, Virginia. His mother, Mrs. Mellie Frances Stripe, and one sister, Mrs. Ilma Fortune, preceded him in death. Besides his wife and children he is survived by his father M. F. Stripe, of Humeston; his sisters, Mrs. Fern Woolis of Corydon; Mrs. Wayne Burley of Derby; Mrs. Lillian Hart of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Jennie Snyder of Des Moines; and three grandchildren: Donald Wayne Stripe, Richard Dale Weidenhaft and Rodger Lawrence, other relatives as well as countless friends. Though in poor health for some time, Carl seldom complained, so no one suspected his condition being grave; therefore, his sudden departure came as a great surprise, a sudden shock, and an irreparable loss to his family and to his community. In recent years he has spent much of his time as a local salesman for stock feeds, minerals, and remedies. This gave him a wide acquaintance and many friends for his ready wit, kindly humor, hearty quiet laughter was a ready passport with any person, or group of persons. However, his home and his family were the center of his earthly considerations and interests. Even a casual visitor in his home could but note this interest and the marked love and respect between all members of his family circle. Funeral service was held Thursday afternoon in the Baptist church of Humeston by the Reverand M. C. Shupe, pastor of the Methodist church. Singers were Mrs. Shupe and Mrs. Imogene Kinnear with Audrey Dent was accompanist. Interment was in the Cambria cemetery; pallbearers were H. A. Greer, Howard Gibbs, A. E. McCullough, Frank Bay, Wm.
