Description	:	WINONA - Carl S. Gamble, 86, of 31934 Winona Road, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday of cancer at his residence. Born Jan. 21, 1911, in Butler Township, he was a son of Homer Samuel and Lena (Bohner) Gamble. He was a farmer and had worked at Mullins Mfg. Co. in Salem and was last employed at NRM in Columbiana as the chief metal erector for 19 years, retiring in 1975. Gamble, 86, of 31934 Winona Road, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday of cancer at his residence. Born Jan. 21, 1911, in Butler Township, he was a son of Homer Samuel and Lena (Bohner) Gamble. He was a farmer and had worked at Mullins Mfg. Co. in Salem and was last employed at NRM in Columbiana as the chief metal erector for 19 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Friends Meeting in Winona and attended Winona Friends Church where he taught Sunday School for 30 years. He was a member and past president of the Winona Ruritans and graduate of Olney Friends Boarding School in 1929. He was a member of the Board of Hall Park in Winona. Survivors include his second wife, Helen Stackhouse Althouse Gamble, whom he married April 18, 1970; three sons Richard Gamble of Lisbon, David Gamble of Wellsville, and John Gamble of Winona. He is also survived by three step-sons, Rev. William Glenn Althouse of Marysville, Homer Lee Althouse and Earl Althouse both of Winona; two daughters, Marilyn Althouse of Winona and Carlene Plank of Los Alamos, New Mexico; two step-daughters, Lois L. McCormick and Ruth Ann Harsh, both of Salem; and a sister Catherine Rebecca Ward of Salem; 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death on Feb. 3, 1969, by his first wife, Betty (Gordy), whom he married June 2, 1932; a son, Kenneth Gamble; three brothers, Wilford, Alfred and Homer Jr. (Gamble); a sister, Alice Clewell; one great grandchild and one step great grandchild. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Winona Friends Church with the Rev. William Glenn Althouse officiating. Burial will be in Woodsdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Stark Memorial. A memorial fund of the Winona Friends Church has been arranged.
