Description	:	Carl Sanders Goard, 78, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 25, 2016. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2016, at Mayodan United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard. Carl was a lifelong resident of Mayodan, who was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Mayodan United Methodist Church where he served as an Usher and Trustee. Carl retired from Tultex, Inc. with more than 34 years of service... Carl was a lifelong resident of Mayodan, who was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Mayodan United Methodist Church where he served as an Usher and Trustee. Carl retired from Tultex, Inc. with more than 34 years of service but his true passion was working (tinkering) on cars. His prize possession was his 1934 Chevy. He loved taking the “Redrod” to shows and “cruise-ins” with his granddaughter, Nora. Carl will be remembered for his caring, thoughtful and warm demeanor. He will be missed by his family every day. He was preceded in death by his parents, James S. and Eulala L. Goard and brother, Charles Sharpe. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane Young Goard, son Charles (Letitia), granddaughters (Nora and Carolyn), and sisters Coleen Duncan and Carolyn Frye. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Monday at the church and all other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mayodan United Methodist Church, PO Box 219, Mayodan, NC 27027 or Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375, or Help, Inc., P.O. Box 16 , Wentworth, NC 27375 Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family. Condolences may be offered at www.colonialfh.net.
