Description	:	Charles was born in Neuhof, near Gnoien, Mecklenburg Germany. His family had lived there for several generations. His parents were: Christian Friedrich and Maria Anna Cath.(Widdorp) Graepler. He had one brother who was almost 11 yrs. older as there were 7 stillbirths in between. His mother died when he was 3 yrs. old and his father soon remarried. Two girls and a boy were born to that union. In 1867, Charles and his half sister came to Tinley Park, Will County, Illinois. He had one brother who was almost 11 yrs. older as there were 7 stillbirths in between. His mother died when he was 3 yrs. old and his father soon remarried. Two girls and a boy were born to that union. In 1867, Charles and his half sister came to Tinley Park, Will County, Illinois. The next fall, Minnie Schumacher arrived and they were married in 1869. The other half sister and brother moved to the US six years later and his step-mother came after his father died in 1887. The eldest brother lived out his life in Germany. Charles & Minnie moved to St. Louis and had two sons; George Daniel, who died at 7 mos. (3 Oct. 1870--10 May 1871) and Ernest. By 1875, they had moved near Dysart in Benton County, Iowa and had 2 more children. In 1880, they were back in St. Louis and had another child in 1881. They returned to Iowa and lived in Green Mountain, Marshall Co. where Charles was working on the railroad. They also had another son. Then they moved back near Dysart where their last two children were born. The last one, Rose, was born and died there ca:1890. In the spring of 1896, the family moved to Morgan township, near Dows Iowa where Charles was farming. He died that fall when a horse was spooked, started to run away and overturned the load of lumber he was hauling.
