Description	:	Carl William Naessig was born on Tuesday, April 19, 1904 to William and Anna (Nassig) Naessig on the family farm in Wheatland Township, Day County, South Dakota southeast of Webster. He was baptized at the Morton German Methodist Church and attended country school through the eighth grade. He farmed with his father until 1949 and then farmed with his nephew, Howard Gregerson. Read More	Carl William Naessig was born on Tuesday, April 19, 1904 to William and Anna (Nassig) Naessig on the family farm in Wheatland Township, Day County, South Dakota southeast of Webster. He was baptized at the Morton German Methodist Church and attended country school through the eighth grade. He farmed with his father until 1949 and then farmed with his nephew, Howard Gregerson. On August 22, 1960 he married Esther Ludtke Rowland at Little Brown Church, Iowa. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster. He continued to farm the family farm until his retirement in July 1994. The couple entered Sun Dial Manor in Bristol in April 2005. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster. He served on the original Board of Directors for R.E.A. in Webster, Security Bank & Trust and Dacotah Bank Boards. He was a member of South Dakota Wheat Commission, Farm Bureau, Republican Party and the Webster Golden Age Club. He built the Naessig building at the Museum of Wildlife, Science and Industry which was built in memory of William Naessig. His hobbies included embroidering, traveling, coin collecting and introducing and increasing new crop varieties for state college. Carl passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 101 years, 6 months and 10 days. Survivors include his wife, Esther of Bristol, SD; three step-sons, Lloyd (Grace) Rowland of Vermillion, SD, Les (Loxie) Rowland of Waubay, SD and Bernard (Margaret) Rowland of Albany, OR; two step-daughters, Marlene VanDenBerg (and friend, Harold Mitchell) of Sioux Falls, SD and Gayle Naessig of Ohio; fifteen step-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. His funeral will be at Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. William Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Arrangements by Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster.
