Description	:	The funeral for Carleton Benjamin Garman, 81, of 1515 Ninth Ave. S.W., will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Kline St. The Rev. Gerald Rife Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Brethren Cemetery at Wetonka under the direction of Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W. The family is requested to meet at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Carleton Benjamin Garman was born Nov. 21, 1910, to Benjamin and Etta (Stancer) Garman at Wetonka. He attended school there and worked on the family farm. In the '30s, he worked in the timber industry and apple orchards in Oregon. He returned to the area and worked for the Works Progress Administration. He married Anna Melhaff on Oct. 7, 1940, at Ipswich. They lived on a farm near Wetonka. He also worked in construction, building grain elevators. His wife died Feb. 20, 1961 and worked for Marshall's Truck Stop. On Sept. 8, 1962, he married Evelyn (Machan) Bevers at the Lutheran church in Gettysburg. In 1965, they moved to Aberdeen where he worked for South Dakota Wheat Growers by Bath until he retired. He was member of First Presbyterian Church and American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Aberdeen; one son, Douglas Bevers of Bloomington, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Janice) Geffre, Mrs. Paul (Arlyce) Geffre and Mrs. Dale (Sharon) Peterson, all of Aberdeen; one brother, Maurice Garman of Redfield; one sister, Mrs. Wendall (Carol) Jones of Gwinner, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, two brothers and two grandchildren. Honorary casketbearers will be his relatives. Casketbearers will be grandchildren, Mark Wattier of Conde, Duane and John Geffre, Tracy Stucker, Carey Gardner and Larry Kirnan, all of Aberdeen.
