Description	:	Carlton Fred McCauley, 90, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Wednesday evening, Dec. 25, 2013, in Valentines Personal Care Home at Elkins. He had been in declining health for the past five years. He was born Friday, March 2, 1923, at Belington, a son of the late Dock Blain and Esta Talbott McCauley. On Jan. 15, 1944, at Belington, he was married to the former Helen Arlene Phares, who survives. Also surviving are one son, David Allen McCauley and wife. Read More	Carlton Fred McCauley, 90, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Wednesday evening, Dec. 25, 2013, in Valentines Personal Care Home at Elkins. He had been in declining health for the past five years. He was born Friday, March 2, 1923, at Belington, a son of the late Dock Blain and Esta Talbott McCauley. On Jan. 15, 1944, at Belington, he was married to the former Helen Arlene Phares, who survives. Also surviving are one son, David Allen McCauley and wife. Jody, of Buckhannon; two grandchildren, Matthew and Angela McCauley; and several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceding him in death were one son, Barry Douglas McCauley; three brothers, Arlington, Taylor and John McCauley; and three sisters, Cleo Zirkle, Ava Simpson and Elsie Rickett. He was a graduate of Belington High School with the class of 1941 of which he was a member of the marching band. He had worked as a salesman for the former Shingleton Wholesale Produce Company at Clarksburg for 26 years and was the assistant manager of the Farm Credit Bureau at Elkins for 17 years, retiring in 1983. He was a cattleman, enjoyed hunting deer and turkey and was an avid gardener. He was a member of Elkins-Randolph County Senior Center, where he was known as a noted pool shot, and Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church for many years. The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Sunday, Dec. 29, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate, and interment will follow in Concord Cemetery near Belington. Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Carlton Fred McCauley.
