Survivors include his wife, Blanche; a son, Ronald and wife Phyllis, and a daughter, Nancy Latuska, all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Royal and his wife, Verona, of Monticello; two sisters, Lavonne Zwally of Indianapolis and Dr. Marilyn Hauser and her husband, Dr. Fred Hauser, of Sarasota, Fla. Also surviving are grandchildren: Christy, Debby and husband Rob, Cheri and husband Chris, Tammy and husband Lynn, Deanna and husband Jim, and Darren; great-grandchildren, Blake, Morgan, Drew, Alyssa, Justin and Stacy. Carlton was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Monticello, the son of Ernest and Mae Hubbard Landis. He married Blanche P. Kula on Sept. 9, 1939, in Waterloo. Carlton attended Coe College and the Armor Institute of Technology in Chicago. Learning was very important to Carlton and he continued his education throughout his life, even after his retirement. He was an engineer at Energy Manufacturing in Monticello, retiring in 1979.
