From The News Frederick, February 2, 1930 Carlton Randolph Horine 82 years of age, Jefferson, eldest son of the late Joel and Catherine Koontz Horine, died at his home in Jefferson Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock after a long illness of hardening of the arteries. More than a year ago he began to fail and his health gradually declined. Mr. Horine was born on a farm near Jefferson, May 30, 1848 and for many years successfully engaged in agriculture. About twenty-five years ago he retired and moved to Jefferson where he since resided. He was a member of S. Paul's Lutheran church and a charter member of Jefferson Council No 127, Jr. O. U. A. M. He married Miss America Culler, daughter of the late Daniel and Ann Maria Culler, Jefferson. She died in 1919. Mr. Horine is survived by one son, LeRoy C. Horine, near this city, and two daughters, Miss Evelyn Horine, at home, and Mrs. M. Arnold Hemp, Lancaster, Pa. Two grandchildren, Mrs. Max Everhart and Miss Rachel Horine, near this city, also survive. Funeral from his late home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in St. Paul's cemetery, Jefferson. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral directors. From the News Frederick, February 6, 1930 The funeral of Carlton R. Horine took place from his late home in Jefferson Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. George H. Seiler officiating. The Jefferson Council, No. 127, Junior Order of American Merchanics held services at the grave. Pallbearers were: Harry M. Shaff, Leroy Remsberg, W. Ross Horine, Hubert R. Horine, Millard H. Horine, T. Clayton Dixon. Interment St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral directors.
