A funeral service is being held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Leo Seiker officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the church with a 6 p.m. rosary following. Interment will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements. Carmen was born Nov. 29, 1928 to Leo Theodore and Lorraine (Gardner) Karolevitz in Lesterville, South Dakota. She attended country school in Yankton County and high school in Tabor, South Dakota. She then attended Southern State Teachers college in Springfield, S.D. On May 28, 1953 she was united in marriage to Romaine T. Pesicka. To this union one daughter was born. The family lived in several places including Naper, and Niobrara, Nebraska and Tabor, South Dakota. They then moved to Hordville, Nebraska before settling in Shelby where they lived for the past 50 years. Carmen remained in her home in Shelby after the passing of her husband Romaine on Jan. 5, 2010. She recently resided at the Osceola Good Samaritan Society. Carmen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, including Bridge and Pitch, going to the library and Shelby Senior Center. Survivors include her daughter Lori Frasch of St. Joseph, MO and grandson Tyler Frasch of Atlanta, GA; one brother Allen (Agnes) Karolevitz of Yankton, SD; three sisters Shirley (Lee) Hroza of Columbus, Maxine Karoleitz of Rapid City, SD, and Leona Taylor of Mount Clemens, MI; sister-in-law Ione Karolevitz of Tabor, SD, other relatives and a host friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Romaine; parents Leo and Lorraine; and two brothers, Richard and Jimmy.
