Description	:	Carmen Dale Clement was born Jan. 26, 1934 on the farm at Guss to Dale Francis and Lela Fern (Rogers) Clement. He attended country school and graduated Corning High School in 1953. Carmen worked for local farmers after graduation. Carmen served in the United States Army from 1956 - 1958 at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He attended country school and graduated Corning High School in 1953. Carmen worked for local farmers after graduation. Carmen served in the United States Army from 1956 - 1958 at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He served at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Maryland, and was an Ordinance Ammunition Instructor. He and Norma Geer were united in marriage Dec. 25, 1955 at Clarinda Methodist Church. They have three children: Myra, Kevin and Brian. Carmen was a farmer and enjoyed tilling the soil, raising lots and lots of hogs, feeding many cattle and milking cows. He farmed in Page, Taylor, Adams, and Montgomery counties. Carmen was a Nebraska Township Trustee and was a Farm Bureau member. He was a hard worker and always busy. Carmen was a member of Shambaugh Church of God for 59 years and held offices of Elder, Sunday School Deacon, Trustee and he and Norma were janitors for many years. Recently, they attended New Market Church of Christ. Carmen enjoyed music, especially old hymns. He was in several school music groups, sang in All State Music in Des Moines, and a member of the Plainsmen group. He also sang to the cattle and hogs. Carmen passed away Sept. 17 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak. He was the youngest of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, brothers Dean (Margaret) Clement, Glen (Lois) Clement, George (Norma Jean) Clement, Beunah (Travis) Powell, and Ardyce (Bill) Kane. He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Clarinda; children Myra (Terry) New, Kevin (Laveta) Clement, all of Clarinda, and Brian (Lori) Clement, New Market; eight grandchildren Aaron New, Micheal Clement, Collin New, Kristan Clement, Darcie New, Nicholas Clement, Tim and Terry Eighmy; four great grandchildren Haley, Avery, Brodie, and Owen; nieces and nephews. He was a faithful husband and loved his family. He never complained of all his health issues and enjoyed each day. Carmen lived by the motto “Love the Lord, work hard, and be honest.” Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 21 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, with Rev. Russ Clark officiating. Military honors were provided by American Legion Sergy Post #98 of Clarinda. Interment was in Memory Cemetery, New Market. Memorials are suggested to Carmen Clement Memorial Fund.
