Carmen Dschaak, 66, of Beulah, ND after suffering numerous strokes, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Carmen was born on December 12, 1947, the first of three children to Alvin and Pearl (Buchmann) Weil in Beulah. Carmen was raised and educated in Beulah. On January 22, 1966, Carmen married the love of her life, Bennie Dschaak and the couple just recently celebrated 48 years of marriage. Carmen and Bennie made their home in Zap where they raised two daughters. She made sure to show her girls important life skills like ironing, sewing, embroidering, gardening and cooking, all skills that school did not offer. She raised her girls with firm rules and a strict hand. Carmen was an avid gardener and also enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Bible School and helping with Christmas programs at church. She would spend countless hours outside with Bennie tending their garden and taking care of their precious cats. Carmen and Bennie always had a special love for cats and in later years started rescuing many of them. Every building Carmen had included something Bennie built including kennels and sanctuaries for their beloved babies. They all miss their momma. Carmen also spent many hours of love and enjoyment with her granddaughters. They were her pride and joy. She spent many hours outdoors with them, taking them on long walks, camping and fishing. Together they also took trips to different places in North Dakota including the Enchanted Highway and Medora. She also took the time to teach them to make old-fashioned things, like sauerkraut and other German dishes Carmen is survived by her husband, Bennie of Zap; two daughters, Sharmain Dschaak of Bismarck, ND and Julie Dschaak-Wilson (Scott Wilson) of Beulah; two beautiful granddaughters, Brandi and Maddisen Flemmer; her mother, Pearl Weil of Beulah; two brothers, Allen Weil and Davy (Christy) Weil, both of Zap; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvin Weil. Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Homes, Beulah and Hazen.
