Description	:	Carmen Lorraine McMahan passed away upon the 24th of November, within the Two Thousandth and Third Year of Our Lord and Saviour, at approximately 2318. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Blanche, in 1985, and Floyd “Mac”, in 1998, and her beloved miniature poodle, Missy, in about 1980. Carmen was born, the youngest of three, on January 15, 1934, in Arcata and moved, with her family, to Eureka, where her mother and father would build their family home and ranch, and where Carmen would live a simple and carefree life, with the past three years of her life... Read More	Carmen Lorraine McMahan passed away upon the 24th of November, within the Two Thousandth and Third Year of Our Lord and Saviour, at approximately 2318. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Blanche, in 1985, and Floyd “Mac”, in 1998, and her beloved miniature poodle, Missy, in about 1980. Carmen was born, the youngest of three, on January 15, 1934, in Arcata and moved, with her family, to Eureka, where her mother and father would build their family home and ranch, and where Carmen would live a simple and carefree life, with the past three years of her life having been spent in residence at the Sunbridge Granada Convalescent Care Home (recently renamed “Skilled HealthCare”, as she was left, upon the demise of her father in 1998, without a true house companion. Blanche enrolled Carmen into the public school system for a spate of time, but eventually found Carmen to be more at peace with homeschooling. Carmen possessed an angelic disposition, and most definitely, a fine Irish temperament, with one never seeming to compromise the integrity of the other. Carmen, who will be dearly missed, is survived by her sister, Gloria Young, of Sacramento, her brother, Floyd Raymond “Bud” McMahan, of Bayside, and sister-in-law, Shirley McMahan, of Bayside. She is also survived by two cousins, Maxine Hill, Marjorie Dart McMahan and Barney McMahan, both of Arcata, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, some of whom would be Judy Young of Sacramento, George Young, Jr. of Santa Rosa, Candi McMahan-Lewis of San Francisco, and Marci Pigg (formerly McMahan) of McKinleyville; great-nieces and nephews, Ryan and Kelly Young of Sacramento, and twins, Tristan and Chloe Pigg of McKinleyville, and an aunt, Alva Casten-McMahan of Arcata. God Bless You and we will love you forever. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Carmen’s attending physician, Patrick Dawson, M.D., his assistant, Linda, and of course, Skilled HealthCare. Contributions can be made to the Tailwaggers Thrift Shop, 2904 “F” Street, Eureka, CA 95501, as Carmen possessed such particular tenderness for little dogs. She had, in fact, acquired quite an impressive collection of ceramic, porcelain, glass, and wooden miniature dogs - many of which were made up in trios. Let us, also, allow no small mention of the fact that Carmen was always a most pleasant shopping, dining, and driving companion, who loved listening to Hank Williams and Laurence Welk, as well as indulging in good conversation. Carmen was our walking FBI, who could remember names, addresses, and telephone numbers that would escape others. She was our precious little jewel, who will, indeed, be missed. Viewing will take place on Sunday, November 30, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary Home, located at 1835 “E” Street in Eureka, where funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., thenceforth, onto Oceanview Cemetery, where encryptment services will be held.
