She grew up at Plankinton and graduated from Plankinton High School. She moved with her family to Oregon for a few years and then returned to Plankinton where she worked for Anderson Furniture, where she met her future husband. She was born on August 30, 1932 at Plankinton, South Dakota to Leonard "Sam" and Margaret (Mitchell) Olson. She grew up at Plankinton and graduated from Plankinton High School. She volunteered for the Plankinton Ambulance Department for twenty years. She was a member of the Plankinton United Methodist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her two sons, one daughter, eighteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 2012; one granddaughter; and two brothers: Eldon and Merrill.
