Description	:	Carol was born on 16 Dec 1943 the oldest child of Elton (Bunk) and Evelyn Galt. She was born in Carrington, ND and grew up on a farm near there. They had no modern conveniences until Carol was in high school. She excelled at school and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She went on to NDSU in Fargo where she studied chemistry. Read More	Carol was born on 16 Dec 1943 the oldest child of Elton (Bunk) and Evelyn Galt. She was born in Carrington, ND and grew up on a farm near there. They had no modern conveniences until Carol was in high school. She excelled at school and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She went on to NDSU in Fargo where she studied chemistry. She met her husband, Curt Guilbert, of Rolla, ND who was also studying chemistry. They married on 18 Apr 1963. She went on to get her PhD in biochemistry at the University of Pittsburg. She was a gifted chemist. Her first job was at Economics Labratory in St. Paul, MN where she developed a surfactant which is still used widely in soaps and disinfectants. Her second job was at 3M where her husband also worked. There she developed cleaning aids and worked on a team that created a cleaning machine for building janitors. In 1988 they moved to Austin, TX where she worked on "black gold" and electrical tape, improving its use in different environments. Due to this work, she traveled to China, Brazil, Mexico and Canada helping companies make the tape. Carol enjoyed art in many forms, including stain glass, ceramics, paper, watercolor and oil painting, quilting, crochet, knitting, needle craft ad fabric dyeing. Preceded in death by her parents and brother Joel Galt. Survivors include her husband, Curt; daughter Theresa Guilbert and her son-in-law, David McMonigal and sister, Karen Galt Stewart.
