Description	:	Carol Meier, 83, of Elm Creek, died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elm Creek with Father Jose Chavez officiating. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Carol was born November 8, 1932 in Arapahoe, Colorado to Emil J. and Nell F. (Sullwold) Ripp. She grew up between Odessa and Elm Creek and was a 1950 graduate of Odessa High School. Carol would later graduate from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1953. On October 10, 1953, Carol was united in marriage Edward Meier in Elm Creek, NE. She was employed as a Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for 30 years. Carol had a passion for nursing and taking care of people. Even after retiring she continued caring for those in need by volunteering at the Red Cross. Carol was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, canning and spending time with her grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Joseph (Lorea) Meier, James (Fauneil) Meier, Steven (Robin) Meier and Matthew (Vickie) Meier all of Elm Creek; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; brother, Emil (Kathy) Ripp of Cairo, NE, Charles (Sharon) Ripp of Elm Creek; sister, Frances Ione (Richard) Crow of Kearney and Marion Broe of Elm Creek, as well as, many nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Meier; brother-in-law, Ron Broe; step-mother, Mabel Ripp; brother, David Ripp; nieces, Molly Ann Broe and Jennifer Joyce Crow.
