Carol was born on June 6, 1938, the daughter of Marjorie (Eckhardt) and Leonard Axon. She was born in Traer, prior to moving to Tripoli during her high school years, where she graduated in 1956. Carol was born on June 6, 1938, the daughter of Marjorie (Eckhardt) and Leonard Axon. She was born in Traer, prior to moving to Tripoli during her high school years, where she graduated in 1956. On June 17, 1959, Carol was united in marriage to Donald Buls at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The two raised a family of four children, and were partners in the family business, Don Buls Excavating, which originated in 1968. Carol also drove school bus for forty-four years with the Tripoli School System. Carol was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She canned and froze produce, and also sold it at the local farmers market. Most of all, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carol's memory is honored by her husband, Donald; four children, Julie Johnson of Waterloo, Brent Buls of Sumner, Iowa, Melanie (Curt) Aalderks of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Rhonda (Kent) Davis of Tripoli; six grandchildren, Leslie, Luke and Alex Davis, David Johnson, and Zachary and Natalie Severson; five great-grandchildren, Elise and Grace Mowatt, Jack and Lauren Severson, and Wyatt Davis; her mother, Marjorie Axon; brothers John and Michael "Mic" Axon; sister Joyce (Ron) Opfer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Axon; sister, Norma Jean Axon; son-in-law, David Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Karen Buls. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with Pastor Scott Duffas officiating. Burial will be held in Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Tripoli. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly.
