Description	:	Carole Loraine Barbero, age 87, of Broadus passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2015 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus. Carole Loraine was born in Miles City on Christmas Day 1927 to Gladys and Joe Irion. Her early years were spent at the L.O. Ranch on the Mizpah owned by her grandparents Ed and Jenny Irion. Read More	Carole Loraine Barbero, age 87, of Broadus passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2015 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus. Carole Loraine was born in Miles City on Christmas Day 1927 to Gladys and Joe Irion. Her early years were spent at the L.O. Ranch on the Mizpah owned by her grandparents Ed and Jenny Irion. Carole spent many years living in teacherages with her mother. She also spent time in Powderville and Epsie. She attended high school in Broadus where she graduated in 1945. She was a cheerleader and spent her extra time working as a waitress. After graduation she went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone in Miles City. Carole returned to Broadus in the fall of 1946 when Charlie Barbero returned from the service. In 1947 she was asked to teach school at Boyes. She married Charlie in November of that year. Their first son, Charles Joe, Jr. was born in 1950, John David was born in 1952, and Patti Jean followed in 1954. About this time the family moved to Coalwood to help Carole’s grandparents with a store and post office. They stayed until the place was sold. In the meantime, Charlie had purchased his parent’s ranch and in 1956, they moved to the ranch at Boyes. Carole spent enough time around Charlie’s mother, Mary, to become an excellent Italian cook. She helped Charlie around the ranch. She loved the lambing shed and milking the cows. She milked what the family needed and let her pet calves and bumb lambs have the rest. In 1966 the family rented a house in Broadus. The kids were in school and Carole went to work at the bank. She continued to work there for seven years, even after returning to the ranch. Charlie got a mail contract and asked Carole to leave the bank to haul mail for him. Both Carole and Charlie were very involved in the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary. Carole served 31 years as president, including District President and then State President in 1992. During these years, they were able to travel together to many places. Carole was known for her beautiful crocheting. Her mother taught her this craft at an early age. Carole gave many pieces away as gifts but also sold some at craft fairs. She loved to spend time with her family and her cats. Carole is survived by her husband Charlie of 67 years; sons Joe (Susie) of Billings and John (Diana) of Boyes; daughter Patti (Art) of Randle, Washington; seven grandchildren: Carlo (Shilo) Barbero of Billings, Vincent (Danielle) Barbero of Austin, Texas, Dori (Casey) Phillips of Billings, Jona (Wade) Armstrong of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, David Barbero of Broadus, Carole Brix of Randall, Washington, and Craig (Molly)Brix of Portland, Oregon; ten great-grandchildren: Marianna and Adria Barbero, Cori and Codi Phillips, Knox and Charli Armstrong, Jesse Heidi, Lainee and Graci Barbero, and Jerry Bowen. Services will be held on July 3, 2015 at 11:00 at the Faith Bible Church in Broadus with a luncheon following at the VFW Hall.
