Description	:	Carol Hintz, 82, Dickinson, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her home. Carol's Celebration of Life Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Prairie Winds U.M. Church, Dickinson, with Pastor Jerry Stravia IV officiating. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service. Carol Hochhalter was born on May 2, 1938 in the Elgin Memorial Hospital to Ferdinand and Margaret Hochhalter, and 16 half brothers and sisters. Her first six years were spent on a farm 12 miles south of New Leipzig. At the age of six her family moved to New Leipzig where she attended New Leipzig School, graduating in 1956. Carol furthered her education by enrolling in the Bismarck Hospital of Nursing, graduating in 1959. On June 14, 1959, Carol married her high school sweetheart Edgar Hintz and together they had four children, Carla, Brad, Marc and Les. She began her career as a nurse in Jamestown where she worked for three years at Jamestown Hospital. In 1962, they moved to Dickinson where she spent 34 years at St. Joseph's Hospital, the last 14 years as the nursing supervisor of the ER, which she found the most rewarding. Carol retired in 2000, but never stopped caring for and supporting her family and friends. Aside from her dedication to nursing, Carol enjoyed traveling, playing golf, knitting and reading. But most of all Carol loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or any chance to send them books or keepsakes, or make their favorite treats. She celebrated all of the life's milestones from graduations to weddings to great-grandchildren. Through words and actions, she was always there for family. She passed down her brown eyes, commitment to nursing, love for baking, and most importantly, her unwavering faith and loyalty to her family and friends. Carol is survived by her husband, Edgar, Dickinson, children, Carla (Dan) Porter, Dickinson, Brad (Julie) Hintz, Devils Lake, Marc Hintz Corsicana, Texas, and Les (Lori) Hintz, Hayden Lake, Idaho; fourteen grandchildren, Chris (Allison), Leigh (Jacob), Abbey (Kain), Mercedes (Tyler), Madison, Michael, Matthew (Amanda), Blake, Jordan, Elle, Bryan (Sandra), Brittany, Jack and Reid; six great-grandchildren; brother, Otto Hochhalter, Dickinson; and sisters, LuElla Hochhalter, Elgin, and Lillian Fuchs, Carson. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Joan Hintz; brothers, Herbert, Alvin, Harlan, and Ted; sisters, Tina, Emma, Lydia, Elsie H., Elsie R., Betty, Ruth, Neyla and Rose.
