Mrs. Lambelet was born July 10, 1915, in Home City, Kan., to Mathias and Nellie (Thomas) Schmidt. She married Woodrow Lambelet on March 14, 1953, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Mrs. Lambelet was born July 10, 1915, in Home City, Kan., to Mathias and Nellie (Thomas) Schmidt. She married Woodrow Lambelet on March 14, 1953, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Survivors of the immediate family include daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Wayne Morton of Osceola, Mo.; and sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Tami Lambelet of Grand Island and Tom and Lori Lambelet of Rio Rancho, N.M.; grandchildren, Barbara Garlick, Joe Morton, Debbie Morton Peaslee, David Lambelet, Jeffrey Lambelet, Michael Lambelet, Nicole Lambelet, and Natalie Lambelet Palacios, as well as great-grandchildren, Imani, Olivia, Elizabeth, Mary Margaret, Madeline, Jackson, Bennett, Charlie and Garren. She grew up in Home City and Summerfield, Kan., and moved to Lincoln at the age of 10. Mrs. Lambelet received her primary and secondary education at Summerfield, Kan., and Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1933. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1937 and a master's degree in 1953, both at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also completed additional graduate studies at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She was a Latin, English, and Social Studies teacher in Ogallala, Neligh, Lincoln and Grand Island. She was a guidance counselor at Grand Island Senior High when she retired in 1978. After retirement she worked as a social service director at a local nursing home. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. She enjoyed participating in Bible studies, reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, needlepoint, antiques, and listening to big band music. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Grand Island Retired School Personnel Association, University of Nebraska Alumni Association, and Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow; brothers, Victor and Virgil; and sister, Mary Margaret Pohlenz. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 5/24/2010
