She was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Everett, Wash., daughter of Carroll and Pern Mead French. Carol grew up on a farm in rural Nashua. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1964. She married Clyde Shirley in 1964, and they divorced. She moved to South Carolina and later returned to Nashua. Sheldon, 71, of Nashua, died Thursday, Feb. 16, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly, of cancer. She was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Everett, Wash., daughter of Carroll and Pern Mead French. Carol grew up on a farm in rural Nashua. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1964. She married Clyde Shirley in 1964, and they divorced. She moved to South Carolina and later returned to Nashua. Carol married Glenn Sheldon on Dec. 29, 1967, in Ionia, and they made their home in Plainfield. She worked at Harrison Orchards in Nashua, candled eggs in New Hampton, and farmed in Plainfield for 11 years before moving to Nashua in 1984. She worked at ConAgra in Fredericksburg for 17 years, retiring in 2000. Survived by a daughter, Tyann (Chris) Rouw of Cedar Falls; a son, Chad (Amy) Sheldon of Alexandria, Va.; five grandchildren, Isaac, Noah and Henry Rouw, and Daisy and Charlie Sheldon; two brothers-in-law, Bill Desallier of Yakima, Wash., and Roger (Kandy) Sheldon of Denver; two sisters-in-law, Joyce (Ron) Noble of Converse, Texas, and Julie Boeckmann of Albert Lea, Minn; and eight nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glenn in April 2016; a brother, Dr. Kenneth French; and her twin sister, Cheyrl Desallier. Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Nashua United Methodist Church, preceded by an hour of visitation. Carol enjoyed baking, doing yard work, and eating big pieces of chocolate cake. She was an artist who drew and painted animals and landscapes. She had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her beautiful flowers. Carol was hardworking, strong, independent, witty, generous, and courageous. She often said raising her children was her greatest accomplishment. She dearly loved attending her grandchildren's activities and always brought homemade cookies or treats for them to enjoy afterwards. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
