Steffen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. ——— Carol Ruth Grant was surrounded by her family as she was called to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2016. She was born on Oct. 8, 1941, to Erich and Clara (Carstens) Bierman at Battle Creek. Carol grew up in the Battle Creek area and was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She attended Battle Creek High School, graduating as the valedictorian in 1959. After attending Midland College, she married Richard Grant on June 24, 1961. They were richly blessed with 54 loving years together. They farmed south of Meadow Grove before moving into Battle Creek four years ago. They have three children, Bruce (Karen) Grant of Meadow Grove and twins Kim (Troy) McCain of Aurora and Konnie (Lane) McKown of Ringgold, Ga. Carol’s seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild enjoyed her cookies and cinnamon rolls when they came to visit. Carol kept active with her favorite hobbies of cooking, baking, gardening, canning, sewing and making greeting cards for family and friends. 4-H was very important to her since she participated as a member and later served as a leader and mentor. She enjoyed her Friday mornings helping in the church office. Carol is also survived by an older brother, Warren (Brenda) Bierman of Lexington and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clarence Bierman of Battle Creek.
