Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, SD. Carole was born July 31, 1935, in Mitchell to Arthur Sr. and Irene (Bohnenkamp) Jarding. She grew up on a farm in rural Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1953. On Aug. 23, 1954, Carole married the love of her life, Bernard "Bernie" Vincent Kayser, and together they began a lifelong journey of love and commitment that served as a foundation for building and sustaining their family. She was dedicated to her family, her Catholic faith and community service. Carole had a full-time job caring for her children and maintaining order in their busy household. But she loved being a "farm girl," and she took an active role in the farming operation, too. Carole often spoke of the joy she felt being in the field on a tractor. In 1990, Carole was selected as KDLT's "Mother of the Year," a testament to her enduring love for her children. However, that love expanded far beyond the walls of her home. She was considered a "mother" and "grandmother" to many in Alexandria and beyond whether that was true in the traditional sense or not. Carole was well known for her baking – especially of bread and pies. A trip home for her children and grandchildren was not complete until they had some of her home-baked bread. Carole passed on a love for the art of baking to many in her family, so her recipes will live on for generations to come. She took great pride in being the coordinator of the local blood drive; organizing the annual Memorial Day program as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; and being involved in church activities and education. Among the many organizations to which Carole committed her time were St. Mary of Mercy Church; the Sacred Heart League; the United Blood Service; the American Legion Auxiliary; and the National Farmers Organization. Survivors include her 14 children: Kevin (Jeanne) Kayser, Alexandria; Nancy (Roy Jr.) Johnson, Bloomfield, Neb.; Keith (Julie) Kayser, Alexandria; David (Sandy) Kayser, Alexandria; Tony (Katie) Kayser, Sioux Falls; Mary (Ken) Graupmann, Kadoka; Catherine (Jeff) Kellogg, Sioux Falls; Jeanette (Dean) Uher, Mitchell; Donna (Bill) Pfeiffer, Savage, Minn.; Donald (LeAnn) Kayser, Alexandria; Philip (Jodi) Kayser, Alexandria; Jennifer (Dan) Ching, Sioux Falls; Elizabeth (Bill) Delehant, Mitchell; and Kenny (Kelly) Kayser, Alexandria; 57 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jeanie (Tom) Weber; and Joanne (Neil) McLaughlin; and two brothers: Arthur Jr. (Rosie) Jarding and Robert Jarding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; a son, Vincent; a brother, Donnie Jarding; four grandchildren; and her parents.
