Description	:	Carolee Armstrong Cornett died at her home, Sunday April 1, 2012 after a long battle with COPD and Diabetes. She was 72. Carolee (Carey) Armstrong was born to Arthur Lee Armstrong and Kathryn (Goodwin) Armstrong on September 12, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Carey was just 16 when she graduated salutatorian from Salem Center High School in Salem, Indiana in 1956. She began attending Indiana University in Bloomington that same year. Carolee (Carey) Armstrong was born to Arthur Lee Armstrong and Kathryn (Goodwin) Armstrong on September 12, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Carey was just 16 when she graduated salutatorian from Salem Center High School in Salem, Indiana in 1956. She began attending Indiana University in Bloomington that same year. After raising three sons, Carey went back to school--receiving her bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1985. Carey married Ron Cornett and embarked on a new career as a substance abuse counselor. Working first at the Ray of Love in Bloomington, then for Koala Centers in Indianapolis and Nashville, Tennessee, Carey counseledhundredsof addicts. She finished her career managing all the addiction programs at the renowned Center for the Homeless in South Bend, Indiana. After retiring Carey returned to Bloomington to be close to her children and grandchildren, but kept active counseling people with substance abuse problems at The Amethyst House. Carey Cornett was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Lee Armstrong, and her brother Laurence Lee Armstrong. She is survived by her husband Ronald Cornett, her mother Kathryn Armstrong, her sister Loralee (Armstrong) Taylor (and her husband Rodney) her son Brien Jones (and his wife Brandy), her son David Jones (and his wife Sally), her son Eric Jones (and his wife Susan), her grandson Alexander Jones and her granddaughter Kathryn Mae Jones. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 9:00 AM at 11:00 AM at the Allen Funeral Home at 4155 South Old State Road 37 in Bloomington. Her memorial service will is scheduled for 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Amethyst House at 645 North Walnut Street, Bloomington, IN 47404. Allen Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
