Highland Recorder January 19, 1912 It is with a sad heart we chronicle the death of another of our oldest and highly esteemed citizens, Mrs. Caroline Price, widow of the late Townsend Price, at her home in the McKendree neighborhood Wednesday, 10th. Her death was unexpected, and was a shock to her many friends. She took grippe the day after Xmas, but had so far recovered as to be able to sit up and walk about in her room. The night before her death she was taken suddenly worse, and her physician called, who remained during the night, and left her about ten o'clock resting comfortable, but had scarcely gotten out of sight of her home, when her symptoms became alarming, and he was recalled, but when he reached her bedside she was beyond human aid, and quietly passed away a few minutes later. She was twice married. Her first husband was Samuel Wilson; to them were born two children, Mr. James Wilson of ILL. and Mrs. Oliver Fleisher, of this county. Four children were the result of the second union, Lillie, Henry, Jared and Kenneth. By each union she became a stepmother, two stepchildren by the first, and five by the second, all of whom loved her as their own mother, and were loved in return by her. She was a woman of sterling qualities and will be sadly missed. She united with the Methodist church in early life, and was a lovely christian character, always bright and cheerful, carrying sunshine wherever she went, and was instrumental in leading many to Christ, and never allowed any thing but sickness to keep her away from the house of God. It was her privilege to attend the recent revival service at Doe Hill, and although physically weak, she didn't miss a service. We shall never forget the closing service, when the song "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder I'll Be There," was being sung and almost the whole congregation marched around the alter and shook hands with the minister, she among them with rapt expressions and with much emphasis said, " I'll be there." It was a great pleasure to have her with us, and the pleasure was mutual. She visited every home in the village where she was a welcome guest. She leaves to mourn their loss, six sisters, one brother, one daughter and four sons, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held in McKindree church Friday morning, by her pastor Rev. H. A. Wilson, and her remains laid to rest in the cemetery by the side of her late husband. Although the weather was very inclement, the large crowd in attendance was an attest action of the esteem in which she was held.
