To them was born a daughter, Caroline, at Sherrill's Mound, and also her brothers, John, Albert, and Joseph, all fine men who lived beyond the age of 95 with John, the elder, dying in our time just two weeks short of 100 years. John Meyer died of cancer at the age of 29 and is buried in Dubuque, Iowa area. Constantina is buried in an unknown and unmarked grave in the Catholic Cemetery at Cascade. Anthony Stephan Locher and Caroline Meyer were married at Immaculate Conception Church in Castle Grove Township, approximately 8 miles west of Monticello and for most of the remainder of their lives lived in Monticello where Anthony was a blacksmith and a farrier. Sixteen children were born to them. Two died infancy, John and Lawrence, and are buried in the family plot. Fourteen grew to maturity; the first born was Mary, followed by her twin , Minnie, and then, not necessarily in this progression, John, Frank, Simon, Fannie, Clara (who looked so m much like her grandmother, Mary Locher) Harry, Lawrence, Bertha, Earl, Charles, Leo, and Joseph. CAROLINE LOCHER- Monticello, Iowa, April 21. - SPECIAL Mrs. Caroline Locher, aged 74, died at her home here Saturday evening at 10:15 after an illness of nine weeks. Mrs. Locher was the widow of Anthony Locher and was born in Dubuque, May 13, 1856. She has been a resident of Jones county many years, coming to Monticello with the family when she was a girl of 14. On August 19, 1874, she was married to Anthony Locher of Monticello, and to them were born 16 children, 12 of whom are living and were at their mother's bedside when she died. Mrs. Locher is survived by her children, eight sons, Dr. Earl E., Dr. Joseph J., Attorney H. H. and Charles of Dubuque: Dr. Lawrence R. of Farley; Leo L. of Cedar Rapids; Attorney John J. and Frank of Monticello; four daughters, Mrs. J. W. McAleer, of Lisbon, Ia., Mrs. Matt Miller, Misses Mary and Bertha of Monticello, and three brothers, Albert and Joseph Meyer, of Monticello, and John B. Meyer of Cincinnati, Ohio The funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church here. Rev. George Hauck officiating. Burial was made in the Monticello catholic Cemetery.
