Her death was due to peritonitis. Born April 2, 1916, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Puetz, she was at the time of her death 3 years, 11 months and 12 days of age. Surviving Caroline, besides her parents, are three sisters, Margaret, Mary and Clara, and one brother, Lawrence. Caroline was the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Puetz. Rev. Father Petrasch, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, conducted the funeral services, which were held in St. Mary's church at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 15. A choir from St. Mary's school sang. The active pallbearers were Clara Birkel, Loretta Demuth, Matilda Morbach and Loretta Schmitt. The honorary pallbearers were Florence Birkel, Isabel Demuth, Helen Steiner and Eleanor Schmit, who carried bouquets of flowers which they deposited in the grave. ''''''''''''''''''' People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), March 18, 1920, p. 1, col. 6 CAROLINE GERTRUDE PUETZ Caroline Gertrude Puetz, little three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Puetz living near David City died at the Puetz home Saturday, March 13. She was born April 2, 1916. Little Caroline always of a quiet, happy disposition, was a very lovable child and was the picture of health until last winter when she had a severe attack of whooping cough. She seemed quite well again until about three weeks ago when her last illness came on which was no doubt caused by the former sickness. She was taken to the David City Hospital on Tuesday, February 24th and everything that medical skill could accomplish was done to save the little life. She went to her home on March 9th. Mr. and Mrs. Puetz lost a 4 year old daughter in 1917. Funeral was held Monday morning at 9:30 from the St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. Father Petrasch officiating. Music was by the St. Mary’s school choir. Body was laid in David City Catholic cemetery. This little one leaves her parents and brothers and sisters to mourn her death. The Pall Bearers were Misses Loretta Schmit, Matilda Morbach and Clara Birkel. The flower girls were Misses Eleanor Schmitt, Florence Birkel, Isabell Demuth and Helena Stiner. __ CARD OF THANKS We wish to take this means of extending our sincere thanks to the many good friends and neighbors who so thoughtfully gave their assistance and sympathy during the illness and death of our darling little daughter also for the beautiful floral offerings.
