Mrs. Weber was born to John and Elizabeth Handel (nee Englehardt) on September 14, 1877, on a farm at Menno, S. Dak. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Reformed tradition. She was married in 1896 to Ernest Hoppe. Of the four children born to this union one survives her mother. Due to a heart condition the family gave up farming in South Dakota and moved west settling in Quincy. There, in the same year, Mr. Hoppe died. In 1906 Caroline married Adam Weber, a widower with 11 children. Four children were born to the couple. After farming together the family retired in 1915 and, after moving about for some time, settled in Ritzville in the early 1950s. On September 28, 1960, Adam Weber died at 92 years. Mrs. Weber remained here and spent her last year at Hillcrest Manor. She is survived by seven sons, Henry Weber of Wenatchee; Dave Weber of Odessa; George Weber of Seattle; Sam Weber of Ontario, Ore., and John, Dan and Harold Weber of Ritzville; five daughters, Mrs. Lena Reiman of Dryden; Mrs. Edith Farris of Everett; Mrs. Elsie Castor of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Martha Williams of Odessa, and Mrs. Lydia Heimbigner; a sister, Mrs. Martha Guenthner, Berkeley, Calif.; 73 grandchildren, 167 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great- grandchildren. The Rev. Ernest Sprenger officiated at the funeral services. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Mrs. Weber's grandsons. In charge of arrangements were the Strate Funeral home of Davenport, assisted by the Danekas Funeral home.
