Description	:	Caroline (Sievers) Breihan, 101, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016. She was born on October 6, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois, to Caroline and Christoph Sievers. The youngest of seven children, she was predeceased by all of her family; and by her husband, Theobald (Ted) Carl Walter Breihan, in December 1988. Read More	Caroline (Sievers) Breihan, 101, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016. She was born on October 6, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois, to Caroline and Christoph Sievers. The youngest of seven children, she was predeceased by all of her family; and by her husband, Theobald (Ted) Carl Walter Breihan, in December 1988. They were married in 1936 in Hankow, China, where he was a missionary teacher at the Concordia Ev. Lutheran School. Caroline and Ted moved to Redlands, California in 1983 from Chicago, to be near their eldest daughter, Pauline Gruenler (Eric). In 2005, Caroline sold her home in Redlands and moved to Braswell’s Chateau Villa, where she resided until her death. She raised three daughters in Chicago and worked for Western Union Telegraph Company in their main office for 36 years, retiring in the fall of 1982. Caroline was a life-long Lutheran until she joined the First Congregational Church of Redlands in 2010. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and made many of her own clothes. She enjoyed movies and read the newspaper on her way to work every day on public transportation. After moving to Redlands she volunteered weekly at the Lutheran Braille Workers, Inc. home office in Yucaipa, California for 20 years, and at their local work center at Christ the King Lutheran Church, from 1987 to about 2008. She and two of her lady friends would often have dinner and attend the performances at the Footlighters Theater or the Redlands Bowl. She is survived by her three daughters, Pauline, Claudia Duellman (Tom) of Sycamore, Illinois, and Merle Barnett (Dale) of Tallahassee, Florida. She had nine grandsons, one of whom predeceased her. She had fourteen great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
