Description	:	On Thursday, September 27, 2012, Caroline Julia Mueller, of Menominee, Nebraska, died at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, Nebraska. On that day, she was 93 years, 11 months and 23 days old. Caroline was born on October 4, 1918 on the family farm, west of Menominee, to Albert and Elizabeth (Goeden) Tramp. Read More	On Thursday, September 27, 2012, Caroline Julia Mueller, of Menominee, Nebraska, died at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, Nebraska. On that day, she was 93 years, 11 months and 23 days old. Caroline was born on October 4, 1918 on the family farm, west of Menominee, to Albert and Elizabeth (Goeden) Tramp. She was the ninth of eleven children born to this union and was baptized at St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was named for her sponsors, Uncle Carl Goeden and Aunt Julia Goeden. She started school at District 11 and then graduated from St. Boniface Grade School in 1933. Prior to her marriage, Caroline did housework for the George Gurney family in Yankton for one summer and another summer for a family in Omaha, where she had to learn Jewish cookery. She and John J. Mueller Jr. were married at Menominee on September 30, 1941. They made their home on a farm northeast of Menominee and were both lifelong members of the St. Boniface Parish community. After years of struggling with respiratory problems, she spent the last five months of her long life at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, Nebraska. Caroline was a member and past president of both the St. Boniface Ladies Guild and Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Young Ladies Sodality, Legion of Mary and spent nine years as a delegate to the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council and St. Boniface Pastoral Council. Caroline's name is in the Golden Book at the convent at Conception Abbey at Clyde, MO. She and John were charter members of the Cedar Catholic Development Committee, a fundraising group for the newly formed consolidated high school, representing Menominee. They were also instrumental in establishing the West Catholic Endowment Fund. She designed the quilt for the St. Boniface Centennial and had made and donated many quilts for various fundraisers for the parish and area Catholic schools. In her later years she enjoyed designing and quilting countless children's quilts for the Nebraska Linus Project, became an avid reader and family historian. Caroline loved to garden, cook, bake, sew, and teach her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how to do these things. She had a great love of the land and was a feisty advocate for small family farms. Caroline is survived by 9 children and their spouses, Sandra Smith of Minneapolis, MN; Allan and Janice (Kohles) Mueller of Menominee; Judith and Ron Wieseler of Vermillion, SD; Lynette Kohles of Lincoln, NE; John A. and Lois (Dendinger) Mueller of Menominee; Rosemary and Glenn Kathol of Hartington; Cynthia and Gary Wieseler of Leigh, NE; Deborah Mueller Hruza of Denver, CO; Kristie and Matt Jarchow of Lincoln, NE; 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, a sister, Pauline Gobel of Banks, OR; 5 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tramp and Heidi Tramp both of Yankton; Madeline Mueller and Esther Schulte both of Omaha and Cleopha Schulte of Downey, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John on October 27, 1998 at the age of 82, a daughter Dianne Mueller, 2 grandsons, Paul Smith and Nicholas Wieseler, a son-in-law, Roger Kohles, and brothers and sisters, Marie Kaiser Hegge, Andrew, Lawrence, George, Aelred, Richard, Laurina, and twins, Vernon & Sr. Antoinette (Verona) Tramp.
