Her death occurred almost 24 hours later. Mrs. Schumacher, nee Miss Caroline Reis, was born in Sublette, Illinois, July 31, 1859. Her marriage to L.W. Schumacher took place in Subette February 11, 1879. Mr. and Mrs. Schumacher came to Carroll county in 1901, locating on a farm, and 17 years ago moved to Carroll, to the present home, 214 North Maple street. Mrs. Schumacher was a devout member of the Catholic church and was a refined, cultured woman, with many friends in the city, in whose activities she was deeply interested. Mr. Schumacher, former councilman of the Fourth ward, died seven years ago and the following children survive: Mrs. A.A. Wiedemeier; George Schumacher, of Parkston, S.D.; Mrs. A.A. Hamilton, of Algona; and Mrs. E.M. Barr, of this city. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Michael Walz, of Perham, Minn., and four brothers, George Reis, Paul Ries and Fred Reis, of Sublette, Illinois, and Peter Reis, of Des Moines. Funeral services ware held at S.S. Peter and Paul's church yesterday morning at 9 o'clock, Father A.J. Foerster reading the requiem high mass. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and sympathizing friends.
