FUNERAL OF THE LATE MRS. STAEBLER Remains arrived here Saturday afternoon and taken to New Vienna. Death occurred at the home of her daughter at Haverhill. Former resident of this vicinity. The remains of the late Mrs. Aug. Staebler, mention of whose death was made in last week's issue of the Commersial, arrived her last Saturday afternoon and were taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Vorwold. The funeral was held Sunday morning at New Vienna at 9;30 o'clock at St. Boniface church where absolution was given by Rev. F. W. Pape, after which burial was had at the family lot in St. Boniface cemetery. The pall bearers were: Messrs. Wm. Rettig, Andrew Rahe, Frank Willenborg, Herman Elkens, A. J. Hoefer and Henry Mescher. Mrs. Staebler was born in Wuertenburg, Germany, on January 19, 1830 and was eighty-four years of age at the time of her death. Her maiden name was Caroline Schrank. When twenty-four years of age she came to this country with her parents and settled at Cincinnatti, Ohio, where about 60 years ago she was unitied in marriage to Mr. Aug. Staebler. Eight years after their marriage, they moved to Iowa, and resided on a farm near Luxemburg, which place was their home for five years after which they purchased a farm near Colesburg where they resided for twenty-five years, when they retired from farming and moved to New Vienna. They lived there but a few months when Mr. Staebler died. Soon after Mrs. Staebler departed for Haverhill, where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Elisabeth Luther until her death. Nine children were born to them, seven of whom are living. They are: Catherine, Mrs John Vorwald of Dyersville, Mary, Mrs. Joe Pille of Haverhill, Joseph of Haverhill, Mrs. Elisabeth Luther of Haverhill, Chas. of Colesburg, Gotlieb of Williams, and Anna, Mrs. B. R. Boyer of Wadena, Minn. Mrs. Staebler is also survived by fifty-five grandchildren and fifty-five great grandchildren. Deceased was a woman held in high regard by her many friends. A thorough christian wife and mother kind and considerate to her friends and neighbors, she was beloved by all who knew her.
