Kruger, 69, Ellsworth, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne of multiple myeloma. A funeral service was Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth with burial at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Iowa. Carolyn Wibben was born March 11, 1942, to Fred and Louise Wibben in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in rural Ellsworth and attended District 25 Country School through seventh grade. She then attended Ellsworth Public School and graduated in 1960. She married Daryl Kruger on Aug. 23, 1960, at Stateline Presbyterian Church. They lived on a farm near George and Ellsworth until moving into Ellsworth. For more than 20 years she worked at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth as a dietary aide and later the dietary supervisor. She then worked at Sudenga Industries in George, Iowa, for seven years before retiring in 2004. Mrs. Kruger was a member of Stateline Presbyterian Church for most of her life and was active in PW, teaching Sunday School and Bible school and playing piano for Sunday school and worship services. When the church closed, she became a member of Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, where she served as an elder and was active in PW and Bible study. For many years she made and decorated cakes for special events, and she enjoyed having friends over for Stanley, Tupperware and jewelry parties. She was an active member of the Red Hatters – Sparklettes, the Ellsworth chapter. She is survived by her husband, Daryl; three children, Brenda (Kevin) Gisolf, Rock Valley, Iowa, Gene (Stacey) Kruger, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kristi (Sean) Peterson, Shakopee; four grandsons; two great-grandsons; two stepgrandchildren; her mother, Louise Knutson, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Jane (Darwin) Sletten, Sioux Falls, and Doreen (Dennis) Miller, Tea, S.D.; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Wibben, and by her stepfather, Jake Kuper. A tree will be dedicated in her memory by Sanford Hospice of Luverne.
