Carolyn passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at her home in Norfolk, Nebraska. Carolyn attended St. Paul's parochial school, graduated from Norfolk (NE.) High School, received her Associate's Degree from Norfolk (NE.) Junior College and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, majoring in Business Administration and Statistics. Read More	Carolyn Arlene Tollefson, was born October 26, 1945 in Norfolk, Nebraska the daughter of John W. and Edna (Winter) Kayl. Carolyn passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at her home in Norfolk, Nebraska. Carolyn attended St. Paul's parochial school, graduated from Norfolk (NE.) High School, received her Associate's Degree from Norfolk (NE.) Junior College and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, majoring in Business Administration and Statistics. She then was hired as head of the Cosmetology Department of the Bureau of Examining Boards, Department of Health of the State of Nebraska in Lincoln Carolyn married John Tollefson on August 23, 1969 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. John was attending UNL while serving in the U.S. Navy. After marriage they lived in Lincoln, Nebraska until John was transferred to Hawaii. While in Hawaii she worked in an investment firm and was the very first ombudsman of the USS Henry Clay Gold Crew. Carolyn and John's first son "Eric" was born in Hawaii. They then moved to California and then east to Massachusetts where she first worked for a startup manufacturer and then for Stan Home Company. Carolyn and John's second son "Jason" was born in Massachusetts. Upon John's retirement from the Navy in 1986, they moved back to Norfolk, Nebraska where she worked for the Norfolk Rendering Plant, Norfolk, Nebraska until retiring. Carolyn enjoyed time with her family and their granddaughter, working in the flower garden, traveling, helping out at her church's parochial school and working with the community. She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a shuffleboard league. Carolyn is survived by: husband, John Tollefson and son, Jason Tollefson of Norfolk, Nebraska; their "Adoptive" daughter-in-law, Kristine Eliot and granddaughter, (Eric and Kristine's daughter) Brooke Herchenbach; sister, Joanne Thietje of Fremont, Nebraska and a host of family and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by: parents and son, Eric Tollefson. Funeral services for Carolyn A. Tollefson were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Norfolk, Nebraska with Reverend Mark Reichert as officiator. Burial was in New Lutheran Cemetery, Norfolk, Nebraska
