Description	:	Mrs. Carolyn "Carrie" Oland Mullinix, 92, of Damascus, Maryland, died Monday, October 26, 2015, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Frederick, Maryland. Born July 24, 1923 in Olney, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Simon Craver Oland and Georgia Nicholson Oland. She was the wife of the late Wm. Elwood Mullinix, who died September 15, 1997. Read More	Mrs. Carolyn "Carrie" Oland Mullinix, 92, of Damascus, Maryland, died Monday, October 26, 2015, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Frederick, Maryland. Born July 24, 1923 in Olney, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Simon Craver Oland and Georgia Nicholson Oland. She was the wife of the late Wm. Elwood Mullinix, who died September 15, 1997. They were married 51 years. Mrs. Mullinix was a graduate of Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring, MD. Upon graduation, she was employed by National Geographic and then by the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD for nine years. She was a member for more than 60 years of Damascus United Methodist Church, serving as the first President of the Women's Guild, church secretary and working in the Harwood House Thrift Shop for many years. She was also a member of the Damascus Garden Club, Damascus Travel Club, Damascus American Legion Post 171 Auxiliary and a charter member of Mount Airy VFW Post 10076 Auxiliary. Mrs. Mullinix is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Bruce Chaney and Sheila and David Hutchison, of Mount Airy, MD; a special nephew, Randy L. Mullinix and wife Shelly, of Martinsburg, WV; three grandchildren, Sean M. Chaney and wife, Molly of Mount Airy, MD, Noel C. Chaney of Clarksburg, MD, David M. Hutchison and wife, Rachel of Littlestown, PA; six great-grandchildren, Braden, Noah and Cameron Chaney and Max, Garrett and Juliette Hutchison; three special daughters, Marsha Rodgers, Holly Hubble and Debbie Lowman; as well as her family at Sunrise. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Velma Oland of Frederick, MD and George Green of Damascus, MD as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas and Craver Oland, and sisters, Ruth Duvall and Marilyn Green as well as her granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Chaney. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers, staff and residents of Sunrise Assisted Living in Frederick, MD for the love, care and support they provided Carrie and her family over the past four years. Also, they would like to thank Carroll County Hospice for their care and support during her final illness. Friends may call Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, P.A., 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD 20872. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11:00am at the funeral home with internment to follow in Howard Chapel Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made by sending flowers to the funeral home or by making donations to Carroll County Hospice/Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Alzheimer's Association , 108 Byte Drive, Frederick, MD 21702.
