A few years later, her mother married her step-father,... Read More	Carolyn “Lynn” Ellen Lund, 74, of Laurens, Iowa passed away Friday, July 4, 2014. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 10:30 am at First Christian Church in Laurens. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm on Tuesday, July 8 at Smith-Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home and an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7 pm. Carolyn Ellen Cihak was born March 5, 1940 in Creston, Iowa to Mary Veone (Cooper) and Albert Francis Cihak. Her father died in a car accident when she was 7 years old. A few years later, her mother married her step-father, Hollis Harold Kneller. Lynn graduated from Prescott High School in Prescott, Iowa in 1958. She attended Iowa State Teachers College for one year, then graduated from Creston Junior College in 1960 and Wartburg College in 1962. She and Richard “Dick” Eugene Lund were married on July 14, 1962. After graduation from college, she taught second grade at South Clay Community School in Gillett Grove for one year and then at Laurens Community School until 1966. She left teaching to help Dick farm and to start a family. In 1977, she returned to teaching and served as the teacher/director of the Laurens Community Pre-school until 1988. After that, she continued to teach at the Laurens-Marathon Community School until she retired in 2007. She taught fifth grade for many years as well as kindergarten, first grade, and Chapter I reading. Each year her fifth grade class put a class quilt together. When each class graduated from high school, Lynn selected one of the students to receive the quilt as a memento. Her last fifth grade class graduated this year. Lynn was active in the First Christian Church of Laurens, the Order of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Quilt Club. She and Dick also enjoyed playing bridge with their friends. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Dick; her daughters, Annette (Mike) White of St Charles, MO and Allison (Eric) Price of Laurens; her grandchildren, Shannon and Nathan White, and Alexander and Marcus Price; her siblings, Cathy (Bill) Abbott, Camilla (Jorgen) Heidemann, Denny (Valerie) Kneller; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lynn was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step-father.
