Description	:	Mrs. Carolyn W. Meadows, 74, of Irvington, died Friday, May 2, 2008 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Mechanicsville, Va. on June 28, 1933. Mrs. Meadows graduated from Battlefield Park High School. She spent the early part of her working career in the secretary industry and in the law and public health field and later in the field of art, which was her great love. Read More	Mrs. Carolyn W. Meadows, 74, of Irvington, died Friday, May 2, 2008 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Mechanicsville, Va. on June 28, 1933. Mrs. Meadows graduated from Battlefield Park High School. She spent the early part of her working career in the secretary industry and in the law and public health field and later in the field of art, which was her great love. Mrs. Meadows received additional training at RPI and later in Fairfax under the direction of John Young, a noted artist of oil paintings. She had a strong affiliation in the Rappahannock Art League in oil painting. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest H. Waters and Estelle Via Waters; and her sister, Ernestine Waters Joyner. She is survived by her husband, H. Calvin Meadows; her nephew, Steve Joyner and his wife, Jean, of Western Spring, Ill.; two great-nephews, Mark Joyner and Andrew Joyner, both of New Orleans; and two great-nieces, Kateland Joyner of Chicago, and Lauren Joyner of New Orleans. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 3 p.m. at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held on Tuesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. in Signal Hill Cemetery, Hanover, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Children's Hospital Foundation, 2924 Brook Road, Richmond, Va. 23220 in support of Cerebral Palsy or to The Rappahannock Art League, P.O. Box 1158, Kilmarnock, Va. 22482 in support of children's art.
