She was born June 26, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana a daughter of Clifford G. and Margaret (Gallagher) Reehling. As a young girl her family moved to Union Township, Whitley County. She graduated from Coesse High School. On March 12, 1950 she was united in marriage to Richard A. Krider. They made their home in Columbia City until 1958 when they moved to Thorncreek Township. Joan Krider, 88, of Thorncreek Township, Whitley County died at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Miller’s at Oak Pointe. She was born June 26, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana a daughter of Clifford G. and Margaret (Gallagher) Reehling. As a young girl her family moved to Union Township, Whitley County. She graduated from Coesse High School. On March 12, 1950 she was united in marriage to Richard A. Krider. They made their home in Columbia City until 1958 when they moved to Thorncreek Township. Mr. Krider died November 19, 2017 Joan served as secretary at Grace Lutheran Church from 1964 until 1974, worked at Auburn/Peoples Federal in Auburn from 1974 until 1980 and was co-owner of Krider Meat Processing from 1977 until retiring in 1990. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its Deborah Group, Thorncreek Happy Homemakers Extension Club and Thorncreek Township 4-H Leader. Surviving relatives include three sons, Leslie (Sharon) Krider, Dennis (Marcia) Krider and Mark Krider, all of Columbia City; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; and a sister, Delores Rathgaber of New Haven. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 204 North Main Street, Columbia City with visitation after 9:30 a.m. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Preferred memorials are to Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
